Pre Provisional Motor Cycle

You can undergo the Pre-Provisional test once you have held your Learner’s Licence for a minimum of six months and have also successfully completed your Learner’s Check Ride AT LEAST 28 days PRIOR to the assessment date.

YOU CANNOT DO YOUR PROVISIONAL TEST BEFORE THE EARLIEST TEST DATE SHOWING ON THE FRONT OF YOUR LICENCE.

The participant must repeat the assessment if unsuccessful and before the issue of a P1 licence.  The assessment is conducted one on one.

 If a participant fails an on-range component of the assessment they cannot be assessed on-road. 

If a participant passes an on-range but fails an on-road assessment, they must be assessed for both on-range and on-road component again. 

1. You must be at least 17 years of age.

2. You must hold a current learner motorcycle licence, which you have held continuously for at least 6 months, without a period of suspension.

3. Essential to check your earliest test date and expiry date on your Licence to confirm your eligibility.  

Safety:  You must have ‘full skin coverage” ie long pants, long sleeve shirt or jacket and sturdy shoes or boots, or you cannot participate in your course.

Trousers/Jeans with holes are not permitted - you will be turned away.

ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST PROVIDE THEIR OWN HELMETS***  & GLOVES & ANY OTHER PPE EQUIPMENT (IF WET) TO MINIMISE THE RISK OF VIRAL INFECTIONS.

Please bring your own water bottle and pen etc  for hygiene purposes.

** All participants must wear an approved helmet which must be marked to show that it complies with the Australian Standard AS1698 or AS/NZS 1698 or EU standards (UNECE22.05 or 22.06) in accordance with the Tasmanian Road Rules. 

All helmets must bear a label, or similar approval mark, indicating the helmet was made in compliance with a standard mentioned above and is in good repair and proper working order and condition.

Please note that the course will proceed regardless of weather. Trainer discretion will apply in Winter.

If you wish to use your own Motorcycle; you must bring proof of registration and 3rd Party Property insurance (in addition to CTP on vehicle registration) on the day.  Your motor cycle must be registered as LAMS approved - check your Registration papers to ensure this is so before the day. It MUST be roadworthy and at least 1/2 tank of fuel for the assessment.

Fees must be paid at time of Registration unless approved otherwise by AJL Training

Participants MUST have successfully completed the Check Ride course at least a minimum of 28 days prior to the course assessment date.

Overseas Conversion - must have completed the Motor Cycle Road Rules Knowledge Test at Service Tas, and passed an Overseas One on One Skills Course before completing the Pre Provisional course.  You must bring your overseas licence, non novice learner licence (if applicable) and proof of Id (eg Passport or Tas Drivers Licence), Residency confirmation etc on the day.  If you fail this Pre Provisional course your Overseas Licence may be rejected and you will need to undertake the Tas Motor Cycle Licence Program
